McLean Reich, RUST, EAR, & Reporting Section Manager with the California UST Cleanup Fund will review important upcoming deadlines for the removal of single-walled USTs and the implications of not meeting them. Additionally, he will review opportunities and requirements for obtaining funding for this work through the RUST program! If you currently have single-walled tanks in the ground, McLean’s presentation will provide you with the important information you need!
Following McLean, Cindy Williams with Pinnacle Environmental Management Support will discuss the importance of being clear-eyed about what the sunset of the California UST Cleanup Fund will mean for you and your business if no extension is sought. If you are a current or former tank owner/operator, cleanup consultant, or anyone with a vested interest in the cleanup of UST properties covered by this Fund, there are a multitude of issues to consider as the sunset provisions begin to sneak up on our calendars. While the Fund has had several extensions in prior years, it should not be presumed that the same will happen again without your input! There are lessons to be learned from other state funds that have a sunset or attempted to sunset and there are actions you can take now to make informed decisions.
